Los Amigos Board of Directors Elizabeth Cordova - President Anthony Roybal - Executive Director Robert Morris-Secretary Treasurer Our mission is to assist and provide services to the frail, elderly, low-income, disabled, and disadvantaged throughout Northern New Mexico.These services shall consist of but will not be limited to the weatherization of homes, providing fuel wood, conducting energy audits, public education, radon testing and mitigation, improving indoor air quality through carbon monoxide testing, heating equipment installation and repair, ramp and grab bar installation for the handicapped, and roof repairs. Inspector, has over 25 years experience in the weatherization field. Mr. Roybal has held the following positions: Weatherization Program Director for Open Hands (1986-2002), and monitor for the state of New Mexico’s weatherization program (1979-1982). Mr. Roybal is a Weatherization Program Trainer in New Mexico, Arkansas and Oklahoma. He has attended the Energy Conservation Solar Institute in Chattanooga, Tennessee and has completed the advanced NEAT Training, Basic Heating Systems Mechanics, Safety, Tune-Up Carbon Monoxide Testing and Combustion Efficiency . Mr. Roybal is familiar with all federal and state requirements for the DOE WAP program. Mr. Roybal ensures that he and his staff are continually updated on program policies, procedures and guidelines with regards to programmatic and fiscal regulations required of this funding source. Mr. Roybal has worked in northern New Mexico since the inception of weatherization programming in this region (approximately 11 years). Both the financial audit and NMMFA program audit had no findings. Furthermore, under his leadership, Los Amigos received the top performance award for good service from the Department of Energy. from the College of Santa Fe. Mr. Schmitt has over 20 years experience in government accounting and financial practices. Mr. Schmitt served as a Financial Specialist Supervisor for the state of New Mexico, supervising 32 employees. Mr. Schmitt also worked in the private sector for 12 years doing commercial and building construction bookkeeping. His duties included payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory and all other accounting functions for the organization.

WEATHERIZATION EXPERTISE Staff Experience with the Use of the Blower Door. tool to measure the air tightness of the home and to determine the location of air leaks: Anthony Roybal, Dennis Tapia, Nick Valdez, Ruben Padilla, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez. Staff recently attended a regional DOE training in Austin, Texas in October 2004 and was recertified for handling all weatherization equipment including blower doors. Staff Experience with Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Anthony Roybal, Dennis Tapia, Ruben Padilla, Nick Valdez, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez. Staff attending the regional training in Austin was also trained in carbon monoxide detector usage. Staff Experience with WAP Testing and Evaluation Procedures. Dennis Tapia, Ruben Padilla, Nick Valdez, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez. These procedures are as follows: 1) Program staff will personally visit each home to conduct an individual assessment of its weatherization needs, using an approved State Energy Audit. 2) The assessment will include diagnostic testing to check for carbon monoxide and gas leaks. 3) Other diagnostic tools such as the blower door and duct blaster will be used to measure and quantify air tightness of the home and determine locations of air leaks. These tools indicate what types of program measures will be installed (e.g., energy insulation, doors, storm windows, caulking, weather-stripping, window repairs, heating equipment replacement, etc.) 4) An estimate of materials cost and labor is then prepared. Besides having several years experience in implementing weatherization programs, Los Amigos staff attends regional or national trainings each year to stay current on equipment usage and/or procedural issues related to program implementation. HVAC, Appliance and Equipment Evaluation. Vacuum Cleaners (HEPA). The following employees have been trained in these programmatic procedures: Anthony Roybal, Dennis Tapia, Rueben Padilla, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez. is conducted for any hazardous conditions that might be present before work can proceed. Hazards might include dogs and other pets, broken glass, trash & debris, holes in the yard, low electrical lines, insect nests, small children, rodent droppings and sewage spills. Clients will be informed that the unsafe work condition must be cleaned before work can commence. |
