WEATHERIZATION EXPERTISE

Staff Experience with the Use of the Blower Door.
The following employees of Los Amigos have been trained in the use of blower door machines as a diagnostic

tool to measure the air tightness of the home and to determine the location of air leaks: Anthony Roybal,

Dennis Tapia, Nick Valdez, Ruben Padilla, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez. Staff recently

attended a regional DOE training in Austin, Texas in October 2004 and was recertified for handling all

weatherization equipment including blower doors.

Staff Experience with Carbon Monoxide Detectors.
The following employees of Los Amigos have been trained in the use of carbon monoxide detectors:

Anthony Roybal, Dennis Tapia, Ruben Padilla, Nick Valdez, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez.

Staff attending the regional training in Austin was also trained in carbon monoxide detector usage.

Staff Experience with WAP Testing and Evaluation Procedures.
The following employees have been trained in WAP testing and Evaluation procedures: Anthony Roybal,

Dennis Tapia, Ruben Padilla, Nick Valdez, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez. These

procedures are as follows: 1) Program staff will personally visit each home to conduct an individual assessment

of its weatherization needs, using an approved State Energy Audit. 2) The assessment will include diagnostic

testing to check for carbon monoxide and gas leaks. 3) Other diagnostic tools such as the blower door and duct

blaster will be used to measure and quantify air tightness of the home and determine locations of air leaks.

These tools indicate what types of program measures will be installed (e.g., energy insulation, doors, storm

windows, caulking, weather-stripping, window repairs, heating equipment replacement, etc.) 4) An estimate of

materials cost and labor is then prepared.

Besides having several years experience in implementing weatherization programs, Los Amigos staff attends

regional or national trainings each year to stay current on equipment usage and/or procedural issues related

to program implementation.

HVAC, Appliance and Equipment Evaluation.
During weatherization activity and post clean-up, Los Amigos provides all crews with High Efficiency Particulate

Vacuum Cleaners (HEPA). The following employees have been trained in these programmatic procedures:

Anthony Roybal, Dennis Tapia, Rueben Padilla, Mathew Rivera, Mario Rosales, and Albert Rodriguez.

Restrictions are only used if there are unsafe working conditions for weatherization staff. A site analysis check

is conducted for any hazardous conditions that might be present before work can proceed. Hazards might
